Culture
& Language Facilitators
Why not bring the real world into the classroom
by hosting one of our staff members as a Culture & Language
Facilitator? Culture and Language Facilitators can make a
difference by assiting in the English Department of your school
in various ways: they are a first-hand source of authentic
language input, they can bring into the classroom living aspects
of their culture, they can help you raise the motivation of
your students
The CII-International Exchange Programme has been running
since 1994, and university students from English-speaking
countries join us every year through an internship that combines
work, extensive travelling around the country, homestays and
studies. Students from these universities apply every year:
University of Bristol (UK), University College London (UK),
University of Liverpool (UK), Durham Univerity (UK), University
of Limerick (EIRE), UCLA (US), UCSD (US).

Being the first time that I decided to have this kind
of experience which is totally new to us, I have to say that
it has been very satisfying and rewarding so far, both from
the students’ point of view or the teachers’.
At the beginning we were a bit insecure as regards how to
plan the exchange student’s activity during the day,
considering that he has to work for 5 hours daily. The first
thing that was set up was the objective of Chad’s placement
in A.C.I.R. It was decided that the aim is to allow all the
students (from five-year old kids to adults with different
levels of proficiency of the English language) to have the
chance to talk with a native speaker, who will share half
an hour or an hour (depending the course). In this way, the
students and the C&LF will have the chance to share different
Cultural aspects of both countries and learn form each other.
Chad is a very-well educated young man, respectful, open-minded
, tactful to deal with controversial issues, knowledgeable
about his field and culture in general. He is eager to help
in any task he is asked or even not asked. He volunteers to
do any kind of task that is necessary for the language school.

We have been glad to work with Language &
Culture Facilitators twice at our school, which have been
incredible positive learning experiences for our students. The
exposure to the English language being spoken by a native
speaker has helped our students develop effective power of
communication, stimulated their thoughts and broadened their
minds by learning about other cultures and aspects of everyday
life in an English Speaking country. The activities were creative,
motivating and well-structured to improve the students' skills
which are required for success in later academic work. We
do believe that L&C Facilitators benefit students in many
ways and teachers find pleasure in working with them.

Having Culture and Language Facilitators
around has always been an enriching experience.
Students have got highly motivated to express themselves in
English as a way to learn about other young people's culture
as well as showing the facilitators around our area and telling
them about our history and way of life. Students become aware
of the importance of managing the language. They feel that
learning English is no longer a "duty" adults, that
is parents and teachers, make them fulfill, but a useful and
rewarding "tool" relevant to their own interests.

Es muy enriquecedor tanto para los alumnos como para los maestros
contar con estudiantes extranjeros dentro de la institucion;

I really enjoy having Annie around. She is very easy-going,
helpful and shows an excellent attitude towards the activity
and seems to be very motivated to create material and activities
for the students. I think it is going to be a very helpful
facilitator.
